Aims and Objectives Aims 1. The Hill family to sail around UK in 50 days under the banner of Sail Aid (please see section 5.0 for route schedule and map) 2. Raise as much money as possible for the charity ‘Practical Action’ (see section 7.0 for more details) 3. Raise awareness of green, sustainable and renewable energy sources and how they can be implemented in developing countries
1. Organise a large-scale publicity campaign to promote the sailing trip and raise money for charity. 2. To organise and seek out fund raising opportunities in order to raise as much money as possible for Practical Action. 3. To engage with the boating fraternity to encourage them to get involved with the project. 4. To promote the use of sustainable/renewable ‘green’ energy onboard to power the boats electronic equipment including the 12v computer, with the concept that use of solar/wind power technology could be transferred to developing countries. 5. The minority of the worlds population, ie. western population use most of the worlds resources creating the most impact on the world. The trip will explore the use of resources taken for granted in our everyday lives and homes but not ‘on tap’ on a boat ie. Water, electricity, waste disposal. 6. To visit green and renewable energy projects around Britain during the sailing trip, in order to learn about the benefits of renewable energy, how the energy is generated and how the energy could be implemented in developing countries. 7. To challenge the family to work together as a team in all conditions to ensure that Blue Argolis achieves the aims of the project. 8. To challenge the families values |
